I don't know what it is today but I think I need to lock myself in the house. I have been having these insane cravings today! Every place I drive by Chinese food, Italian restaurants it’s all I can do not to pull my car in.. Met a client at Panera Bread for a coffee to discuss our latest project proposal and I didn’t hear a work he said, I kept looking at all the loafs of bread behind him..
The good thing is I haven’t acted but what the heck is up with this, I’m not hungry but I’ll tell you what could almost taste the food! I’m now at home and will eat my NS dinner and have a large salad with it I hope I can stave off these cravings.

Ahhh ... the cravings have begun! First Big Hug Tom! You didn't act on it! I wish I could say it gets easier, but I still look at foods I KNOW I shouldn't eat and drool and that's after 13 months on the program. Am I hungry? Nope. It's just that we know how wonderful the food that we used to enjoy tastes.

You know what the kicker of the whole thing is ... after so long of doing NS, if you do go and eat something that you used to love, you will notice #1 the amount of fat/sugar/richness of whatever it is and it kind of makes you ill; and #2 that many times it doesn't taste nearly as good as you remembered.

Be strong and know that we're here Cheerleader for you and encouraging you! You're doing so well!! You can do it!

Ah, yes! As another 1 yr plus-er, I can attest that Cinde is exactly on in both points: 1) they don't go away (but way to go for ginning and bearing it without giving in!!!) and 2)it's not *always* as good as you remember, and you usually feel worse after indulging (physically AND mentally.)

I know that info doesn't help in the moment, but BE STRONG!!! Big Grin

I HATE days like that...... and yeah- they don't go away, but some days are definitely worse than others. I wish I had some advice to give you- other than KEEP BUSY and try to find something to distract yourself. I still struggle with giving in to the cravings too. Its something I think we "Food lovers" will always have to face. Good luck!!!!! You can do it!!

I agree with Lisa that it's often not as good as you think it is or remember it.

In the 3 months I have been on NS I have eaten off plan a few times and I have to say that Its truly not as good as I thought it would be. A few times I've been so annoyed and commented how it was not worth it at all! And many foods I used to eat make me feel kind of sick now. Esp fast food. The grease doesn't agree with my tummy. I feel icky after I eat it. (I ate fast food when I was out of town during the holidays! gross)

Of course you have the cravings but they will subside. Try and think about other things if you can.

I have had issues where late at night I am watching tv and I see a commercial for fast food (Arby's, Taco Bell, etc) and I wake up thinking about the foods and all day long I want that food, even though I know its bad and gross, and Im not hungry etc... and I feel like I wont get over it until I have said food, but the feeling DOES go away I promise! I try not to look at those places when I drive home and play my music loudly and luckily there aren't too many temptations on my commute from work to home or I might be in big trouble.

Hang in there!

Big Hug

Parana, OMG, the smell in there is enough to make any one cave and you didn't, that wonderful. Do what I did, I got sick of "cheating" so I just spent a good chunk of change on some clothes that I want to be in by summer. If I don't stick to plan faithfully I not only will be out the cost of food but the cost of all the clothes I just bought!! I should be able to stick with plan better once I get back to work in 2 weeks and I'm wearing regular clothes again. Sweat pants let you think all is okay. Pants with waistbands tell the truth.. Just remember one battle won, now to win the war.....

I can attest to those cravings whole-heartedly. They don't go away, but I sure do feel empowered when I resist them. If I am craving sweets, a Hershey's dark miniature will usually stave off the true cravings.

However, one day, I gave in to a craving for fast food hamburgers. I felt so sick afterward: my lips felt swollen, I thought there was a brick in my stomach and the next day, I was in the bathroom for half the morning.

One more thing, can you suggest a different place to meet with clients, like starbucks or someplace where you know you DON'T like the food?
